Our first ever tournament ended with SOA and the Panthers winning the basketball and volleyball tournament respectively. From the bake sale, to the free boom sticks, even spectators were treated to an exciting experience. The audience’s collective voice filled the room with chants ranging from “air ball!” to “Albania!”
“The tournament was great, it was fun, the atmosphere was exciting,” said basketball winner Mensur Ibric. “It was a brotherhood/sisterhood.”
The thrilling event was even more interesting for the players. The tournament included many close matches that came down to single possessions. One match had over five fouls called in the last ten seconds. Players Ibric and Emir Bakovic even went on to have a fake fight after the final whistle, fooling the refs in the process.
When asked about his favorite memory, Ibric said, “I’m not going to lie, we did a little play fighting. That was pretty funny. But I think winning the championship for basketball was pretty fun.”
At the conclusion of the basketball tournament, players from distant locations like New Jersey and Connecticut headed home, only to be replaced by parents eager to cheer their family on in the upcoming volleyball tournament afterwards. Overall, there were many new faces in the crowd who were impressed by the event as a whole.
“I loved it,” said a member of EYBL Elite. “Next time, I’ll bring more people, because I heard about this tournament late.”
We hope all those who attended had a great time. These two tournaments were our first we’ve ever held, but we hope to do more in the future. We would like to thank everyone who made it possible and attended the event. To be informed of future events, like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and follow our website!
